Remembrance Day Celebration Space

Since we don't really have much to celebrate in Canada during November, (no the cold weather isn't worth celebrating!) I thought I would try to make a November 11 space. It's not totally finished, but I wanted to post it now while I remember.
I want to add something in the 2 photo frames on the shelf, with perhaps 'In Flanders Field' poem, and the other one saying, REMEMBER.
The banner on the mirror, is too bright, it looks too much like a birthday banner, I will correct that somehow.
I had cut out 12 poppies to go on the wreath, but in the process of putting it together one went missing. Try as I might I could not find that last one. Then it dawned on me, since it is for November 11, (11/11), then 11 poppies was appropriate.

Hallowe'en Space

Here is the Hallowe'en space. I love the way it turned out. Again I used the books from the previous displays. In fact there are a number of things I have reused.

The bottle of poison is the bottle I found in the garbage room, the glass pumpkin is the one I found in Home Sense. I also reused the large glass vase with the orange feather boa. The wreath I made from a Styrofoam form, added 2 orange and black boas and a black raven I found for a dollar each.  I used my Cricut die cut machine to cut the web and the house images.  I wrapped some skewers in sparkly pipe cleaners and put them with a branch with a few spiders on. Oh I also used a black cloak as the runner on the shelf, it is from an old hallowe'en costume.

I love how this one turned out.
This is something I saw on Pinterest, that I knew I had to try. Just added die cut eyes for the toilet rolls. Then used some black vinyl to cut out the little creature hiding in my toilet tank.

Next display is likely to be something around November 11th.

Cards

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, I didn't go out much due to a little annoying medical condition, that has now been corrected with medication. So it gave me some time to think about cards that I wanted to make.
First one is a Christmas card using Stephanie Barnards Framelits Flip it card die. I love it, as it is pretty easy to put together.
I got to use up some Martha Stewart Christmas papers, I've had for ages.
Then I saw a Happy Birthday card on Pinterest that I loved using the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday Embossing folder.
And finally a Fall card that I will be sending to some of the people on Papercraft Planet who are in a card swap group I am in. This was my own design, using a Fall stamp set that I have hardly used.

Thanksgiving Celebration Space

I wanted to add a little something for our Canadian Thanksgiving, (October 14) to my celebration space. I had an idea of making cubes and standing the letters HAPPY THANKSGIVING on top of them. But that idea ended up changing. I cut pyramid boxes on my Cricut die cut machine, from the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge using fall colours. The I cut out GIVE THANKS and adhered them onto the boxes. That was the only change I made to my fall display but it really takes centre stage, I think.
Hallowe'en is just a couple of weeks away, so stay tuned!

Yet another Baby Album

I love making these albums, and I know that when the recipient gets one, they love it too. This one was for my trainer from a few years back. She moved away and I didn't even know she was back in the city, when I got an invitation to a baby shower for Krista. Not realizing it was her, I declined the invitation, stating that I didn't know a Krista. I later got an email telling me who it was, then got busy making this book. Needless to say I went to the shower!
The baby is a boy, hence Prince Charming and is due on November 20th.

Celebration Space

Sometime ago, while visiting some blogs, I saw a space where a woman made a monthly display in her home. I thought it was a great idea and set about making one in mine.

I have a cube shelf with 9 cubes, unfortunately I haven't been able to find baskets that fit it, so this became the basis of my space. I found an amazing mirror at Home Sense for only $39, and a couchsurfer who was staying with me, helped me put it up. Then I looked around my home to see if there was anything I could display for the summer/August theme. I went to the dollar store and picked up a few items and this is what I came up with.
Then when September rolled around I wanted a Back to School theme.
Now that Fall has arrived I changed it once more, and I like how it is evolving. I got the globe at the dollar store, and I cut the school bus with my die cut machine. The apple on top of the books was a freebie from Staples. It's a Post-it note holder, that is given to teachers when they shop at the store.
As you can see I have reused some of the items, like the flowers and candles. I found the wide glass vase and the glass pumpkin at Home Sense. The brown glass bottle I found in the garbage room of my apartment building!

I can't wait for my Hallowe'en display, I think it will be a lot of fun.

Summer Time.

Wow, I can't believe that I haven't posted here in over 4 months.

I have been doing a few projects over the summer, and I'd love to share them with you.

Here are a few cards I put together.

I have a friend that is due to have her baby in the next few weeks, so I got busy on putting together a baby album for her. She didn't know if it would be a boy or a girl, so I made it with all colours, and Create a Critter cartridge from my Cricut.

Then I added some cutesie paper to a tin, and sent it on it's way.
I am a member of a group who exchange tea, world wide. And I suggested the box card to send it last month. This was the one I made for Karen in New Zealand:

I am planning on sending this one for the month of August, however, it's not quite finished. I won't know who my partner is until the 15th of this month, but I know they'll like it.

And this was the gift card I made for my son. He graduated from his photojournalism course, and is now doing something he really likes.
I had the opportunity at the beginning of August to make a few more cards, while I was hosting a couchsurfer.

Here, finally is a card box that I made after watching Dawn's video.

Hopefully I will be back with other posts, and not leave it so long next time. Enjoy the beautiful weather, and keep on paper crafting.
