Simple Baby Carriage Tutorial

I put together this very simple tutorial, as some people are asking me how I make the embellishments for my Baby Explosion box.

So here it is:

In case the tutorial isn't clear, I used a 1 3/4" circle die (punch), a 1/2" punch, a 3/8" punch and a 1 3/4" scallop punch. I used purple and white cardstock, and some patterned paper. I used a Zig 2 way glue pen to adhere the paper to the cardstock, and cut away the top 1/3 using the bottom 2/3 for the carriage body.

I punched 2 white 1/2" circles, and 2 purple 3/8" circles, then used the 1/2" punch on the purple cardstock, to make the rings. I used an X stamp on the small white circles, and adhered the purple circle onto the white on. I put the 2 wheels onto the bottom of the carriage.

I added the lace ribbon to the hood of the carriage which I made from a quarter of the scallop punch.
The purple ribbon was used as a bow on the carriage, and for the handle bars. I used mini glue dots to adhere the ribbon.

Sounds complicated, but it is really easy.

Congratulations

I made this card for my friend who just found she is pregnant. She doesn't subscribe to typical pink and blue for boys and girls, and so I made this card as nontraditional as I could. 

With it being Spring, and knowing that all things nature are born/reborn in Spring, I thought this one appropriate. I saw this card fold on another site, and I can't remember where I saw it, sorry I can't give credit, but I did adjust the measurements a little. I also used my Cricut die cutting machine and the Give A Hoot cartridge

Baby Shoes

I was browsing online for some baby ideas for a friend of mine who just found out she was pregnant. As you can tell I am very excited for her.

I saw some paper baby booties that people had made, then a tutorial including a pattern. I transferred the pattern to my computer and made it with my Silhouette die cut machine. It came out nicely, but I have decided that I will make a few adjustments if I make more. This one was just a trial effort.

Yet another Baby Album

I love making these albums, and I know that when the recipient gets one, they love it too. This one was for my trainer from a few years back. She moved away and I didn't even know she was back in the city, when I got an invitation to a baby shower for Krista. Not realizing it was her, I declined the invitation, stating that I didn't know a Krista. I later got an email telling me who it was, then got busy making this book. Needless to say I went to the shower!

The baby is a boy, hence Prince Charming and is due on November 20th.

Faeries

Today's cards are from a couple of dies I bought in August, but only received a few weeks ago. First is a card that I am sending to my niece's daughter for her birthday. She is turning 4. I also enclosed some paper dolls that I cut out using my Cricut from the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge, along with paper outfits with tabs, so that she can play and change the clothes.

This next card I made for a friend I made on PaperCraft Planet whose son's wife is about to have a baby.

I am sending this one to my nephew, whose birthday is in two days, so I know it will be a little late. A simple and masculine card.

And finally an idea I saw on someone's blog, but I forget which one, sorry. It is a bright spring card, that I absolutely love. I'm making lots of these to help welcome/encourage spring.

Experimenting with Flip It cards

While I was in Lockport NY staying with my friend Maria I went with her to a rubber stamp show and bought a ton of stamps and other related things. One of these things was a flip flop die. 

In the past when I have made flip it cards, I have used my scorer, big shot and a circular die. There is a little measuring involved, not too difficult, but I did want to see how the actual flip flop die worked.

I decided that the way it folded didn’t suit me, so I was able to figure out how to center the flipped part of the cars, and I like it so much better.

Then a few days later I saw a Darlene DeVries youtube video on Pinterest that intrigued me. I watched and knew I needed to try it out immediately.

Mine didn’t turn out as well and I decided that I didn’t like all the score lines on it, so I made a slightly different version. This one the centre doesn’t flip all the way, but I prefer it.

With the ones I have tried so far, the last one is the one I like the most. The one with the actual flip flop die is a little faster, but I am limited to just a rectangular flip.

Baby Cards

I found this lovely sheet of 12 x 12 paper and I knew I wanted to make cards with it.
So here are 3 cards that I put together using sketches from Mojo Monday. I love their sketches, and always think that I will use them, but never have. Yesterday's sketch was just perfect for this card, that I was inspired to get to it right away this morning.

I'll be sending this card to my great nephew in England for his 1st birthday.

I used some embossing folders for this one and 3 drops of stickles at the bottom right

Such an adorable picture. The liquid pearls I used on this one are a little crooked!

Latest Baby Boy Book

  I heard at the end of last week that my friend's daughter had her baby, a little boy named Calvin. In the same email with that information was the annual invitation to my friend's home, after Christmas. So I got busy on making yet another paper bag book. Here is the result.

1st. Birthday

A friend of mine wanted a card for her friend whose baby just turned 1.  I wasn't fast enough getting it made, but this was the idea that I had. Just as well, I had made this for a boy and it turns out it was a girl!!

So now I am submitting this one to Posh Designs Scrapbook Store for their challenge.  Thanks Kim for the design.

The deadline is tomorrow.

I have at least 4 birthday cards to make this month, so I should get busy.

Balcony pages

I did a quick page with another shot of Thomas as a baby.  I seem to be using lots lately.

He is on the balcony in the sun, and in the background is our neighbour we had at the time, Kenny.  I think it's a great shot because Kenny was always working out on his balcony with his weights, and here they are both showing off their chests!

This 2 page layout show Thomas on the same balcony, probably the following winter.  He is having fun eating snow and offering his "Horsey" some snow too.

BABY CARDS

I have been making cards like crazy and enjoying every moment of it. I was asked if I could make cards for a baby shower and a baptism. These are some that I made.

These first three were made for a baby shower. They already know it will be a little girl.

The next three were for a baptism. It is for a one year old boy.

The last two I made thinking the baptism was for the same baby as the shower cards. So they are now spare ones for some such occasion, but I will put them on Etsy to see if I can sell them there.
