Gardening Celebration Space

I wanted to do a Mother's Day celebration space, but it was only for a day. The work to shop my home, design the space with what I have found, and make it aesthetically pleasing is too much for just a day display.

In the end I decided to put together a gardening theme. My mother was an avid gardener and had a beautiful flower garden in the back of her house. So this was my tribute to my mum, who passed away in 2004, ten years ago.

I didn't think I had a lot for this space, but as it turned out I did. I made a trip to Dollarama and found a wire fence, and fake grass, as well as some silk flowers and windmills. I had the flower pots, the watering can, the trowel and gloves, and I had that adorable bird, that I have used countless times, that was a Christmas gift from one of my kids at school.

I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I think my mum would enjoy it, too.

Flowers

I was reading Card of the week.com and discovered another way of making those lovely paper flowers.  I have seen Christina make them on her blog but this one instructs you to separate the card stock into two after breaking down the fibers.  So instead of 1 flower you get 2.

It looked so pretty when I tried it, I wanted to post it here.  No idea yet what I will do with them.

First "Scrapvivor" Challenge

The Yahoo group PST_pass_it_on recently held a challenge for participants. 17 members were sent 3 envelopes containing items to use on a 12 x 12 layout. A theme was given as well as a technique.

The first challenge was 'My Favourite Place' the technique was doodling and the items to be used were a coin envelope, a tag, a bottle cap and some fibre.

This was my entry:

I have to admit I had no idea what to do with the bottle cap, but after 7 trial ideas, I settled for the simplest! The doodling is on the background paper, it was plain cardstocks to begin with. I cut the word SENSES into the envelope. The tag is inside the envie with a photo of purple flowers on. The fibres are also on the tag.

With this entry I survived and went on to round two with 8 other participants.

My Card Creations

Recently I made some cards for a friend who was retiring and I was told that I should sell my work. I have always felt that if I started selling the I may loose the enjoyment if I have to have deadlines.

So I thought I would post my work and see if I get any feedback.

Also while in England recently I visited a medium who told me my mum says I should go into business with my creativeness!!
